Give Hope + Live Fashionable

It's that time of the year again. Christmas is coming and before you start all your holiday shopping, I'd like to share a few of my favorite items this year that give back. Why not find something that someone on your list will love and help others at the same time? Every year my church participates in Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child provides simple shoebox gifts to millions of boys and girls around the world - and every year I get more and more excited to pack a box full of love for a child in need. This year, our church made these awesome "Pack a Truck, Deliver Hope" shirts to help with the costs of shipping the boxes. So not only do you get to deliver hope to these precious children, but you also get to support the organization with a stylish tee. It's a win-win in my eyes!

Another item I am loving this season is my new Live FashionABLE scarf that Dan surprised me with for my birthday. He purchased the gift months ago, and even tried hiding it under our bed and sneaking it around during our move. Luckily for him, he married a girl that loves gifts and never forgets when she's seen a "surprise" package show up in the mail. He even had my gifts wrapped and sitting out a week before my birthday. Complete torture I tell you. But, I am happy to say that I did no snooping and I was completely surprised by this one. Since he saw Emily Maynard supported the cause and wears the scarves herself, he knew I would love them. Live FashionABLE scarves are handmade by women in Ethiopia who have decided to leave behind a life of sex-trafficking to find hope in a new life through this line. They even have leather clutches too! Find the Genet scarf here and even more on their website.

Take it to the Dry Cleaners

Dry Cleaners

I am going to go out on a limb and say that dry shampoo is the best beauty invention ever. This product has become a staple of mine, an "I can't live without" item. You know that game people play when they ask you what three items you would have with you if you were stuck on an island? Dry shampoo might just be one of my three items. When I used to hear about people washing their hair once or twice a week I thought three things...how, why, and gross! First of all, how could anyone feel okay about that? Secondly, why would you want to do that? And finally, it just sounded dirty. I will tell you, with the use of dry shampoo, I have become one of those people. Now before you start to freak out, I'll tell you this: I still shower on a daily basis, I just don't have to blow dry my hair daily. Who doesn't want to cut back on the amount of times they blow dry their hair? First of all it takes forever and second of all it is terrible for your hair! Since I have started cutting back on the amount of times I wash and blow dry my hair I have seen a huge difference in the healthiness of my hair.  A few of my favorites are Batiste and Suave Keratin. The good news is, both are under $10! Batiste can be found at any Ulta store for about eight dollars and Suave Keratin can be found at your local Target for about three. So, I dare you. No. I double dare you. If you haven't tried it yet, do it. I promise you your life will be changed forever and your healthier hair will thank you!

Airport Style

Airport Style

Well, we are off to Denver for a much needed long weekend to celebrate a friend's wedding! After two busy weeks I am excited for a little getaway. I have to say, I absolutely love to fly. Even more, I love "travel style" and being comfy yet chic while I am in the air. My biggest secret is layers. Layers, layers, layers. Being someone who is cold a lot, I know that airports and planes can often be on the chilly side. Therefore, I plan ahead by dressing in layers. This time I am layering a basic tee with a chic sweatshirt and a scarf. Sweatshirts are definitely having a huge moment this season. You can easily dress these up with statement jewelry pieces and even a pair of heels! Today I will be going for a more casual look with leggings, a scarf, and boots.

Another essential when I am flying includes a large tote to fit all my carry-on items in. This fall I have been loving my Phillip Lim for Target tote. I love filling it with magazines, books, my iPad, and planner. And who doesn't need a stylish watch to make sure they are on time for all their flights?

Going Military

The military trend is one that, quite honestly, I never thought I would go for. The first time I saw combat boots was while I was watching Emily Maynard's season of The Bachelorette and I fell in love with the way she rocked them on the show. But let's be serious. Emily Maynard could wear her clothes inside out and everyone would start doing it. That girl can pull off anything! She has always been one of my top style icons and I love trying to recreate her looks. I also love how she will mix splurges with steals. Knowing that some of her favorite shops are Forever 21, Target, and Nordstrom make me happy because those are places the average woman can afford to shop at and not feel guilty about it. Thank you, Emily.

But in all seriousness, I have loved wearing my combats boots and military inspired jacket all fall. The jacket can go with almost anything and the boots are a weekend favorite of mine. Mix the boots with your favorite pair of skinny jeans, leggings, or even shorts if you are blessed with warm weather year round. Mixing edgy looks with feminine ones is fun...have a good time with it and don't be to afraid to try something new. You might find out you love it more than you think.

Something Foxy

When it comes to shopping for tops, I usually tend to lean more towards the neutral colors. Reason is I know they will go with anything and I can easily add a little bit of color to make them pop. If you were to look in my closet you would see quite a few black, tan, and grey sweaters. I have even had to ask Dan to not let me buy any more grey clothes. It's my weakness. I like to think that I have gotten better and I am now seeing all the fun things that are out there. One of my recent favorites is animal print sweaters! Now I must warn you, this isn't a trend you want to overdo. No one wants to see someone wearing a different animal on their shirt every day. However, it is fun to choose a favorite and wear it on occasion. For me, I have chosen the fox top. I like this one because it's cozy, fun and affordable! I especially like it paired with this black faux leather skirt from Target. I love dressing up the whole look with a bold statement necklace as well. Want to go for a more casual look? Wear your animal sweater with a pair of skinny jeans and favorite pair of flats.
